Pastor Maldonado has been handed a ten-place grid penalty for the Monaco Grand Prix after he made contact with Sauber’s Sergio Perez during final practice.
The Venezuelan, who brilliantly won the Spanish GP last time out, will start ten places lower than he qualifies after making contact with Perez at Portier when he overtook the Mexican, but cut in too early and damaged the Sauber’s front-wing.
The move echoed that of a similar incident involving Maldonado and Lewis Hamilton in Belgium last year when the former pulled across the track before he had cleared the McLaren during qualifying.
