The Mercedes team has been fined €5,000 (£4,100) for the unsafe release of Michael Schumacher during the Chinese Grand Prix.
The front-right wheel gun failed to attach the tyre properly and resulted in Schumacher leaving the pits with a loose wheel. The German, having realised what had happened, retired his car on lap 12.
The mistake cost Schumacher a solid points position as he had been second to his team-mate Nico Rosberg at the time, with Rosberg going on to win the race.
The stewards took into account that Schumacher retired the car immediately, before the wheel had a chance to work its way loose.
“The Prompt action of the driver, in stopping the car as soon as the problem was noticed, is taken into account in the penalty determination,” read a steward statement.
