Force India have elected Gary Paffett as reserve for the Australian Grand Prix in the unlikely event that either Paul di Resta or Nico Hulkenberg are unable to race.
The teams usual third driver, Jules Bianchi, is unavailable due to prior commitments with his Renault 3.5 team which is testing this weekend.
“I’m happy to be available for Sahara Force India for this weekend,” said Paffett.
“Of course, it’s unlikely that I will be called up and hopefully it won’t happen, but it’s nice to know that the team thought of me.”
Paffett has been given permission by McLaren with whom he is also their reserve.
“I’d also like to thank McLaren and Mercedes for making me available should the need arise.”
