Mercedes team principal Ross Brawn has denied recent reports in the German media that Michael Schumacher has been offered a two-year extension to his current contract.
The seven-time world champion signed a deal to race for Mercedes in 2010, lasting three years until the end of 2012.
Whilst Brawn has denied reports that the 43-year-old is set to stay until 2014 after accepting the extended deal, he admitted he and the team were open to retaining the German.
“There’s nothing on the table like that at the moment but we’re open minded,” he told SkySports, referring to the rumours. “We don’t have other plans for drivers.”
“We’ll see what happens this year then talk about it. I hope it goes well because that means we’ll be having good results and I think we’d both be happy to continue.”
The teams other driver, Nico Rosberg, recently signed a deal to remain with the Anglo-German team until at least 2013.
