Kamui Kobayashi holds the top honour of setting the fastest lap over the four days of testing in Barcelona.
The Sauber driver’s best lap, a 1:22.312 set during a qualifying simulation on soft tyres, was almost eight hundredths quicker than Pastor Maldonado in second.
Test times are deceptive in that they reveal very little in the way of an accurate running order, proven last year when Rubens Barrichello often set the quickest lap, to only end the season in 17th with four points.
Nonetheless, Kobayashi’s time is over a second better than his 2011 qualifying lap at the same circuit.
Only 22 drivers set laps over the four days, with Lotus suffering chassis issues and HRT opting not to run at all.
