Adrian Sutil says he is ‘extremely sorry’ for injuring Lotus co-owner Eric Lux during a row in a Shanghai nightclub last year.
The German appeared in court on Monday to provide evidence, after facing charges of bodily harm, during an incident which it’s reported that Sutil used a champagne bottle to cut Lux’s neck.
The former Force India driver said he did everything he could to resolve the situation, including donations to African charities, but Lux declined.
“I did everything to try to settle this row,” he is quoted as saying by Reuters. “I am really sorry, extremely sorry. I never wanted for this to happen.”
Lux also appeared before the judge to give his view of the incident in which he required 24 stitches to his neck, and explained that he wanted a face-to-face apology from Sutil.
