Sauber has become the latest team to leave the Formula One Teams’ Association (FOTA), following the withdrawal of HRT, Ferrari and Red Bull.
The two latter teams handed their two-month notice in earlier this month, whilst HRT left late last year.
A spokesperson for Sauber confirmed their departure to Autosport, citing reasons which are yet to be openly shared, but have “been fully explained to its members.”
It’s also believed that Red Bull sister team Toro Rosso may have also handed their notice in to the association, given their ties to the Milton Keynes outfit.
If such speculation is true, FOTA will continue with just seven members; McLaren, Renault, Mercedes, Williams, Force India, Lotus and Virgin.
