The Belgian Grand Prix has continued to make a loss, following the announcement of its latest financial figures by the local government.
The event, held at the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit in the Ardenne forest, has failed to turn a profit in recent years, and the 2011 grand prix was no different.
According to the latest figures, the event made a loss of £4.7 million (€5.5m), though that figure is down on 2010 by an estimated £430,000 (€500,000).
Ticket sales also fell compared to 12 months ago. 45,000 fans attended the race, compared to 48,000 in 2010, though greater revenues in other areas made up for the drop.
The loss is expected to renew calls for the event to rotate with the French GP, which was dropped from the calendar in 2008, but is expected to make a comeback in the near future at the Paul Ricard circuit.
