Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko, admits the current champions would have preferred to see Lewis Hamilton remain in his poor performance lull, rather than return to his former form, which saw him win in Abu Dhabi.
The Austrian added, with the 2008-world champion on form, that they fear McLaren, more so than even Ferrari, because no matter how badly the Woking outfit start a season, they’re always there or thereabouts come the end.
“For us, we would not have minded if Hamilton had stayed quiet for even longer,” he told Auto Motor Und Sport.
“When he is back at 100 per cent, Mr Hamilton is a formidable opponent.
“They [McLaren] are like a terrier biting a bit more race after race,” he added. “McLaren come back from every crisis, which shows the class of a racing team.”
