Sutil not concerned about his future in F1

Adrian Sutil says he isn’t concerned about his future in Formula 1, despite speculation he is set to lose his seat to Nico Hulkenberg next season.

The German has been with the team since 2006 when it was known as Spyker F1 before being bought out by Vijay Mallya and the Mol family the following year.

Sutil has 11th in the drivers’ championship with 30 points to his name. However his teammate, rookie Paul di Resta, has just nine points less, despite this being his first F1 season – which all but guarantees the Scot a seat in 2012.

Sutil though, says he isn’t worried about his future, be that with Force India or another outfit.

“Who says that I am just waiting for Force India?” Sutil said on Thursday in Abu Dhabi. “I can survive also somehow in a different way, let’s say.

“I don’t think after so many years doing a good job in this team I have to shiver and think about my future, or something. I am relaxed. I like this team. But, if it doesn’t work out then I find something else.”

A decision has been expected before the Abu Dhabi GP, but it’s believed Mallya will now delay that until later in November. Sutil believes the reason for the delay is down to the change in ownership following the recent share sale to Sahara.

“Probably with a new owner here in this team it is just taking a bit longer, I don’t know why. I just don’t feel in a position where I should be nervous. If I was doing a bad job, then I would probably be nervous but I do the best job I can. I am scoring the points and I feel good, so that is why I cannot change the situation.”
