Red Bull advisor, Dr. Helmut Marko has insisted that 2012 will once again see dominance from the energy drinks team and doesn’t believe that other teams will be able to catch the current reigning champions.
It is widely believed that RBR will be hit hard by the introduction of a ban on blown-rear diffusers, something that Marko is happy for other teams to believe.
“We will let our competitors believe that it is so,” he told Germany’s Sport Bild. “But I ask how – if a car is not competitive – can the philosopher’s stone be suddenly found?”
The Austrian suggests that the key to a good year is having a good foundation, something that he believes the team have.
“The fact that having a good foundation one year is a good foundation for the following year has been proved by us for the last three years.”
RBR’s weakness in 2011 has been the Kinetic Energy Recovery system (or KERS), and Dr. Marko has said that the team have taken steps to ensure that this isn’t the case in 2012, admitting that they have put a “task force” in-place to research and develop a reliable system.
