FP1: Hamilton tops shortened first practice

Lewis Hamilton topped the times for the first Singapore practice session of 2011 after it was delayed due to track repairs.

The FIA announced the session would be delayed by 30 minutes, and then shortened to 60 minutes rather than the usual 90. [More here].

The major drama began with Mark Webber and Timo Glock making contact 28 minutes into the session which saw the Red Bull driver lose part of his front-wing, whilst Glock suffered a puncture as a result.

Just minutes later, Heikki Kovalainen stopped on-track at turn 18 with a front-right brake fire which brought out the red flags for the first time.

The session then restarted but was later red flagged due to further kerb issues. The marshalls quickly removed the loose part and restarted the session with just three minutes left.
