Jaime Alguersuari has admitted he was unhappy and upset that Red Bull and Mark Webber agreed to a new one-year contract for the 2012 season.
The deal effectively put a stop to one of the Toro Rosso drivers being promoted to a race winning seat for yet another year.
The two drivers, Alguersuari and Sebastien Buemi, are now considered to be in a fight to retain their seats at the Italian outfit as Red Bull look to place HRT driver, Daniel Ricciardo, in an STR7.
When asked by Spanish radio station Cadena SER if he was upset by the decision, he replied: “Absolutely. I want to be with a team that can win races. I’m very happy with Toro Rosso and delighted that I got to compete in Formula One at 19 [years of age], but I want to win races.”
The 21-year-old then took a swipe at Webber, who is yet to win a race in 2011, whilst his teammate, Sebastian Vettel, has won eight.
“If I was constantly half a second behind my teammate, I would be out,” he added.
