Lewis Hamilton has ranked Nico Rosberg as one of the best drivers on the grid, among names such as current world champion Sebastian Vettel and two-time champion Fernando Alonso.
The McLaren driver was asked who he regards as the best of the best on the grid, and he believes, once given the right car, Rosberg will make a big impact.
“We all believe we are the best and that’s what you have to do, unless you like to finish second,” he told El Pais. “[The best] are Alonso, Vettel and Rosberg – who I’ve known since I was 13.
“He [Rosberg] is about to burst through and he will at any time,” he added.
Rosberg has repeatedley outscored his compatriot Michael Schumacher and has a 12 point advantage despite some unlucky results.
Talking about Alonso, the 26-year-old says he leads the Ferrari team.
“Fernando is very talented and is fully supported by his team. The whole team supports and follows him. It is he who leads Ferrari. I’m not saying it’s good or bad, it’s just the route they have chosen.”
