Fernando Alonso will sport a gold and white helmet at this weekends Monaco Grand Prix.
Unusual helmets and ‘bling’ aren’t uncommon in Monaco, with Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button using diamond enscrusted helmets and steering wheels in 2010, whilst other teams have done something similar in the past.
Alonso’s helmet, whereby gold and white will replace blue and yellow in the same design, will be auctioned off at the end of the season and proceeds will go to the Fondazione Fernando Alonso which is mainly involved in projects aimed at developing road safety initiatives for children.
The helmet will also be used during the Sinagpore night race later in the season.
