The FIA has informed the teams that the drag-reduction system will be available for use at the Monaco Grand Prix, despite calls from some drivers to ban it on safety grounds.
The decision was communicated via a letter sent out on Sunday morning in Turkey.
Although some of the drivers didn’t want the system to be utilised around the tight, twisty street circuit, the teams cited the short timeframe to get a non-DRS wing designed and constructed in just a few weeks time.
It is believed that the DRS zone will not be between turns 8, 9 and 10 [the tunnel section] as many had thought, instead it will most likely be on the pit straight, though shorter, the FIA see it as a safer option.
