The FIA are considering a ban on the drag-reduction system for the Monaco Grand Prix weekend.
The governing body is concerned that its unlimited use during practice and qualifying could lead to safety fears as drivers attempt to use it to gain time around the tight and twisty circuit.
The nature of Monaco means it has no straights of considerable length, the longest of which follows turn eight through the tunnel to the Nouvelle Chicane – this however has a right-hand kink.
A final decision is yet to be made and it is understood a meeting with the teams, drivers and the FIA will be held at the next race in Turkey where the matter will be discussed.
The DRS zone for the next race at the Istanbul Park circuit will be between turns 10 and 12, though the exact distance hasn’t been confirmed.
