Williams will run KERS during the season opening grand prix in Australia in a fortnight’s time.
The Grove based squad looked likely to dump the system for the opening few races after encountering several technical issues at several different tests.
The latest issue became apparent at the final pre-season test in Barcelona, with the battery unit being removed from the FW33 and sent back to the Oxford factory for further investigation.
The in-house designed and built system wasn’t run for the remaining few days, but Williams have confirmed it will feature on the car for the first race.
“Reviewed KERS problem and good news is that we’ll be racing KERS in Melbourne,” it was announced via Twitter.
