In a bid to increase overtaking, the FIA has formed a ‘Circuit Design Group’ which will be tasked with looking at a tracks layout and suggesting changes which could improve passing opportunities.
This comes after criticism of the final race of the 2010 season which saw Fernando Alonso unable to pass Vitaly Petrov, thus unable to challenge Sebastian Vettel for the crown.
The Abu Dhabi circuit took much of the flack for its limited overtaking opportunities – something the group hopes to change.
It is unlikely any changes will made for the 2011 season as the FIA has already introduced a raft of regulation alterations, including KERS and adjustable rear-wings, to improve the show.
