Lewis Hamilton is set to swap his Formula One car for a NASCAR this summer, as he and Tony Stewart take on each others machinery around Watkins Glen.
The 2008 F1 world champion will jump into the fully road-race prepared Chevrolet Impala, whilst Stewart will get to drive the 2010 McLaren MP4-25 in an event organised by Mobil 1.
This isn’t the first such swap of its kind. In 2003, Juan Pablo Montoya took on Jeff Gordon’s DuPont Chevrolet whilst the American drove the Williams F1. Montoya eventually left F1 for NASCAR in 2007.
This won’t be the first time in 2011 that F1 and NASCAR will go head-to-head. In fact, the two series will feature in the upcoming Cars 2 movie where Lightning McQueen will take-on Francesco Bernoulli, an Italian F1 car. Read more about it here.
