Romain Grosjean has announced that he has secured a third driver spot at Lotus-Renault for the 2011 season.
He joins Fairuz Fauzy, who was also announced as a third driver in January, as one of the teams back-up drivers.
The Frenchman previously drove for Renault when he partnered Fernando Alonso during the second half of the 2009 season after replacing Nelson Piquet Jnr.
He was dropped after he failed to secure a single point in his seven races with the outfit.
Grosjean also announced a return to GP2 and GP2 Asia earlier this year with the Dams team.
“2011 will be my comeback year with a third driver spot at Lotus Renault and a whole season in GP2 and GP2 Asia with the Dams team,” the 24-year-old told TF1.
“To be third pilot allows me to gain a huge amount of experience, to be in the paddock, to see people, and to understand what I was lacking in my first Formula One experience.
“Now my idea is to be a race driver in 2012,” he added.
