The ex-chief organiser of the Korean Grand Prix is set to sue the Korean Auto Valley Operation (KAVO), the operators of the event.
He was dismissed from his position earlier last week citing unease surrounding his ability to host another successful event, after the inaugural race went ahead just on time.
Chung Young-Cho attended a meeting last week to hear his fate, but walked out in protest as the shareholders decided it would be best to relieve him of his position, replacing him with Park Won-Hwa, the former South Korean ambassador to Switzerland.
“He said he couldn’t accept the decision because there was something wrong in the procedure,” Jung Ji-hyun, a KAVO spokesman told The Korea Herald.
“He is now in discussion with his advisers as how to file a lawsuit,” he added.
It’s understood Chung has a close personal relationship with F1 commercial-rights holder Bernie Ecclestone, with the two of them coming to an agreement in 2009 for a seven-year contract to host F1 in South Korea.
