David Campbell, the man behind the London O2 arena and chief executive of AEG Europe is set to join Allsport, a division of FOM’s commercial arm.
Allsport handles the sponsorship and advertising side of Formula One and it’s likely Campbell will revamp this side of the business.
The move could also signal a possible replacement for Bernie Ecclestone when the 80-year-old decides to take a step back from the sport, although he is yet to show any signs of doing so.
Campbell is well-known for turning the failing Millennium Dome into a commercial success and the worlds most popular music venue.
He has previously worked with Virgin for 11 years under Richard Branson and masterminded the sale of Virgin Radio in 2000 for £225m.
