Force India are aiming to jump up the table by securing fifth place in the constructors’ championship next season, despite finishing seventh, a single point behind the Williams team in sixth.
Team manager Andy Stevenson congratulated the team and their efforts during 2010 as they made a strong start to the season, taking fifth in Malaysia with Adrian Sutil.
“As a team we have done an extremely good job this year, considering where we came from,” said Stevenson.
However, the team only managed to score ten points in the last six races of the season, compared to Williams 28 points, which saw the team drop to seventh.
“We have driven in the top 10 at many races and have collected a lot of points. Unfortunately, Williams seemed to get their act together in the last third of the season and out-scored us.
“We can work with our heads held high over the off-season. It was a great achievement. Everything comes together and we will present ourselves next year even stronger next year,” he added.
The team are hoping improvements to their base in Silverstone will improve their capabilities to produce a quicker car for 2011.
“We are increasing our capacity in the factory and in engineering.
“Fifth place was the goal this year and will be, in the coming season. We will not rest until we have done that. We must work as hard as possible, develop as much as possible, and hopefully be very competitive.”
