Ferrari maintained its lead at the top of the time-sheets in Abu Dhabi for the Pirelli tyre tests as Fernando Alonso secured P1, following Felipe Massa’s P1 on day one.
Michael Schumacher impressed on his first use of the new rubber for next season, finishing just 0.156s behind the Spaniard.
Sebastian Vettel finished third quickest but, during the morning session he suffered a second tyre failure similar to that of Friday’s issue. Pirelli are looking into this second problem but suspect debris was the cause, like the former.
Robert Kubica finished ahead of the McLaren pairing of Gary Paffett and Oliver Turvey, the two Brits sharing driver duties.
Further down the field, Lotus completed the most laps of the three new teams, with Jarno Trulli two tenths ahead of Pastor Maldonado for Hispania. Timo Glock finished just behind by 15 thousandths to end the 2010 season.
The next time we see the cars on track will be in Spain for the car launches and 2011 tests.
