Red Bull yet again dominated practice for the Japanese GP. Sebastian Vettel looked unbeatable around the twisty Suzuka circuit, posting a 1:31.465, almost four tenths ahead of his team-mate and championship leader.

Robert Kubica matched his FP1 position, securing third ahead of the two Ferrari drivers, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa in fourth and fifth.

Jenson Button, one of five title challengers, put in a better performance as he jumped to sixth, seven places ahead of his team-mate, Lewis Hamilton.

The McLaren drivers heavy crash in first practice left him with just seven laps at the very end of the session to get to grips with his rebuilt car.
