Pirelli, the new F1 tyre supplier for the 2011 season and beyond, will begin testing on Tuesday to gather information and data to input into the final design of next years tyres.
The Italian manufacturer will take-over from Bridgestone at the end of the year after the Japanese supplier announced in November 2009 that it was to withdraw as the sole supplier.
Pirelli have managed to persuade the ex-Toyota F1 team to run their 2009 TF109 model for the test which will take place in Mugello over two days.
Ex-BMW-Sauber and Mercedes reserve driver, Nick Heidfeld, is expected to be behind the wheel for the majority, if not all of the tests.
Further tests are also expected to take place at Paul Ricard later in the season.
