With the British GP right around the corner, F1’s great and good came together in an annual event organised by Bernie Ecclestone to raise money in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
The 2010 event took place at London’s Natural History Museum on Monday evening. The front of the building was lined with F1 car’s including a Force India, Mercedes, Renault and Williams.
The event celebrates the start of the British GP weekend whilst simultaneously raising money for the new heart and lung centre at the children’s hospital.
Organiser, Ecclestone, said about the event: “We have brought together the Formula One community to forge a unique partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital, which has developed over many years now.
“I am delighted to be able to lend my support to such a great cause.”
The event auctioned off several F1 items which raised over £500,000 on the night. The items included a 2006 BMW-Sauber F1 car, a limited edition Gold & Tantalum Hublot Aerobang watch, and a week’s work experience at Mercedes GP.
Celebrity guests included hospital patrons – Tess Daly and Vernon Kay, alongside Princess Beatrice, the event’s creative director Tamara Ecclestone and her sister Petra, as well as Holly and Sam Branson, comedian Hardeep Singh Kohliand, Fiona Bruce, Gabby Logan, Tina Hobley and Kirsty Gallacher, actor Tom Chambers and DJ Henry Holland.
The Sugababes also performed on the night in front of Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, BMW Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi and Renault team principal Eric Boullier.
