Ferrari look set to gain a new employee in the coming weeks as Former McLaren chief engineer, Pat Fry, is reportedly joining the team.
Fry left McLaren earlier this year, as we reported back in May, for an unknown destination, but according to the Italian media, that destination is in fact Ferrari.
The experienced designer had been in charge of McLaren’s 2011 challenger, the MP4-26. Development on that car was well advanced at the time, giving Fry valuable knowledge to take to Ferrari.
The Italian outfit refused to confirm on the 46-year-olds appointment at the company when asked.
At the time of his departure from McLaren, team principal, Martin Whitmarsh commented: “I think it was probably good for him, the right decision for him to take a bit of a break, take a breather.
“I think he’s worked very hard for the team for a number of years. Within our team, then, I think we’ve got quite a bit of a talent and depth, so in these situations it’s a great opportunity for someone younger, maybe hungrier, to come along and replace all of us.
