Red Bull have confirmed the reason why Sebastian Vettel suffered from a locking front wheel in the third session of qualifying on Saturday.
The roll-bar, which stops the car from leaning too much into corners, broke on his RB6 which caused the wheel to lock as it lost contact with the surface of the track – therefore losing valuable grip.
“It looks like it was the roll-bar linkage. With no control over the roll of the car, as soon you turn in the car just rolls over. So he just locked the inside front wheel as it stuck up in the air,” Horner confirmed.
The roll-bar will now be fixed before the race on Sunday without penalty.
