The fight to supply Formula One with tyres from 2011 and beyond is now just a two-way fight between Michelin and Pirelli according to Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali.
FOTA met before the race in Monaco on Sunday morning to discuss the sport’s options. It was hoped a final decision would be made there and then, however the team bosses couldn’t agree on one option, instead they narrowed it down, discounting Bridgestone, Cooper Avon and Kumho.
“No decision has been taken yet,” he told to reporters in Monaco. “I think, give it another week and maybe by next weekend we will have found a solution.
“There are now only two possibilities, though – Michelin and Pirelli. I don’t see any other option.”
A decision is expected prior to the Turkish GP with teams wanting to finalise plans in order to start designing their 2011 cars around the tyre specifications on offer.
