World champion Jenson Button reckons the McLaren will fare better around the streets of Melbourne’s Albert Park.
It seemed the MP4-25 struggled for pace in Bahrain qualifying, with Button taking P8 and Hamilton P4, but come the race, Hamilton managed to stay on the pace of the leading cars.
It’s thought the car wasn’t set-up correctly for the modified circuit, especially turn six which was unsettling the car.
Button is much more confident of performing well in Australia at a track he knows and enjoys.
“It is a circuit that will suit the downforce level of our car more,” Button said at the launch of McLaren’s new MP4-12C supercar.
“The layout of Bahrain was changed very late and that didn’t suit us too much. I am really looking forward to Melbourne. It is circuit that has treated me well in the past and one that I really enjoy.”
