Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn collected his OBE at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday.
Ross, accompanied by his wife Jean and his daughters Helen Young and Amy Smith, arrived at the palace at 10.00am (GMT) before entering up the Grand Staircase and being shown through the Picture Gallery and into the Green Drawing Room.
Ross was then invested with his OBE by Queen Elizabeth II.
That wasn’t Brawn’s only award on Wednesday. His 2009 team, Brawn GP which rose from the ashes of Honda took the Laureus Team of the Year Award at a ceremony in Abu Dhabi.
The award was collected by Nick Fry, due to Brawn’s OBE duties.
Jenson Button also bagged a Laureus award for ‘Breakthrough of the Year’ despite him being a veteran of 172 races.
“Last year was eventful but I have many happy memories,” Jenson said. “At the time I wasn’t thinking about the rewards, I was just tackling each challenge as it came. I’m honoured to have been given this award, and it comes at a very appropriate time as I face the fresh challenges of a new F1 season.”
Former Laureus winners include Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton.
