Valtteri Bottas to receive 2018 Bandini Trophy

Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas has been announced as the recipient of this year’s Bandini Trophy.

The trophy is awarded for a commendable performance in motorsport, and named in honour of Lorenzo Bandini, the Ferrari driver who was killed in a crash at the 1967 Monaco Grand Prix.

Bottas is set to pilot Mercedes’ 2016 title-winning W07 on the route from Faenza to Brisighella in order to collect the award on May 5th.

Bottas enjoyed his most successful season in Formula 1 last year, having switched from Williams to Mercedes, taking four pole positions, three wins and third place in the championship.

Six other drivers on the 2018 Formula 1 grid have received the award: Kimi Raikkonen (2004), Fernando Alonso (2005), Sebastian Vettel (2009), Lewis Hamilton (2010), Daniel Ricciardo (2014) and Max Verstappen (2016).
