Nico Rosberg joins Robert Kubica's management team

Nico Rosberg has teamed up with Robert Kubica's current manager Alessandro Alunni Bravi to assist in the Polish driver's bid to return to the Formula 1 grid in the near future.

Reigning champion Rosberg retired at the end of the 2016 season having narrowly beaten team-mate Lewis Hamilton to the title, claiming he had achieved what he set out to do.

The German raced alongside Kubica in karting and junior single seaters, with the pair both stepping up to F1 in 2006.

Kubica however suffered a serious arm injury during a rally accident and was forced to quit the sport. However he has recently taken part in various tests with the Renault team and is targeting a full-time comeback.

Rosberg hopes to aid that comeback and has joined Kubica's management team.

"I'm excited to be working with Robert and his return to F1," Rosberg said. "He and Lewis [Hamilton] were the fastest I raced against."

Kubica's chances of a return look to have taken a blow though, with Renault set to announce Carlos Sainz as Nico Hulkenberg's team-mate for the 2018 season.
