Date change announced for 2017 WEC pre-season test

Next year’s pre-season FIA World Endurance Championship test at Monza has been pushed back by one week.

The date change was confirmed by the WEC, to avoid a clash with a the Pope’s visit to the Italian city.

Pope Francis will visit Monza from the 24-25 March, the original date of the WEC ‘prologue’.

It has now been pushed back to the 1-2 April, due to “obvious organisational and security reasons” according to the WEC.

The European Le Mans Series test from the 28-29 March at Monza remains unchanged.

The 2017 WEC season kicks off at the Silverstone circuit on the 16 April.
