Sebastian Vettel secured Red Bull’s 50th pole position as he secured the front-row grid spot for the Italian Grand Prix, ending Lewis Hamilton’s string of recent poles.
Red Bull took a 1-2 as Mark Webber secured second, but the most surprising result of Q3 was that of Nico Hulkenberg who put his Sauber in third.
The mixed up Q3 session came as a result of some surprising Q2 exits which included Kimi Raikkonen, Lewis Hamilton – who says he drove like an “idiot” and was blocked by Adrian Sutil – and Romain Grosjean.
That allowed both McLarens and both Toro Rossos to make it through in 8th and 9th and 7th and 10th respectively.
